Study participation
The University Study Center for Metabolic Diseases is currently recruiting participants for the ongoing PeriMed Study. We are looking for individuals who would like to support research on metabolic diseases. The following groups are eligible to participate:
Individuals with type 2 diabetes or fatty liver disease OR
Healthy individuals over the age of 40
You cannot participate if any of the following apply:
Type 1 diabetes mellitus
Use of steroids, immunosuppressants (e.g., cortisone), or blood thinners (e.g., aspirin, Falithrom, Eliquis)
Participation in the PeriMed Study requires approximately 3–4 hours (split across two appointments), and all examinations are provided free of charge. These include an abdominal MRI, liver ultrasound, oral glucose tolerance test, ECG, and body composition analysis.
If you are interested, you will also have the opportunity to participate in the SELS Study at the Institute of Psychosocial Medicine and Developmental Neuroscience. The SELS Study investigates the relationship between metabolic and inflammatory markers, lifestyle, and mood. You will be scheduled for 2 or 3 study visits (each lasting approx. 2–3 hours), spaced 8 weeks apart. In the meantime, you will receive smartphone-based assessments in everyday life, and if you wish, you can take part in an 8-week physical activity intervention using the certified digital health app “VIDEA bewegt,” free of charge.
As compensation for your time and effort, you may receive up to €150.
